APETHORPE LITTER PICK 2017 - please help - just for 1 to 2 hours
NEW DATE - Saturday 11th March 11am - meet at the top of Manor Farm, near the telephone box
Each year, using gloves and bags etc provided by the Council, we spend an hour or two lifting rubbish like cans and bottles from along the roadsides on the way to Kings Cliffe, Woodnewton and Nassington. The Council then picks up the filled bags and larger items from near the telephone box. Until he left the village, this was organised each year by Richard Parkinson.
Please volunteer to help. Either call me (Anne) to say you can join in, or turn up on the day in boots or wellies.
This year we are doing this pick earlier in the spring than usual - before the grass grows and hides the rubbish.
Usually one of the village men with access to a tractor picks up the bags and larger items from along the road sides and takes them to the pile at the telephone box.
Only if the weather is truly terrible will we cancel - call me that morning to check if in doubt.
Chairman, Apethorpe Village Meeting

Royal Legion Poppy Appeal 2016
Many thanks indeed to everyone who subscribed towards this year's Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. The combined total raised from my house collections and the Church collection on the day came to an excellent £301 and forms part of the District total of £3,157.43. All your generous contributions will help the Legion in its ongoing assistance to those who need it most.
Many thanks again.

Make sure we have your contact details
MAKE SURE WE HAVE YOUR CONTACT DETAILS
We are in the middle of a period of considerable change in the village. In Apethorpe, instead of a Council, we have a Village Meeting. In order to keep you up to date with events and represent your views, the Village Meeting officers try to maintain an up-to-date list of email addresses for each and all adults in the village. A telephone/text number is also useful. We also hope to be able to hand deliver notices to those without email.
Of course, you only have to let us have your contact details if you wish to. We are happy to send our notices to all or anyone age 16 or over in your household.

Our new vicar
The new vicar for all six parishes in the Watersmete benefice including Apethorpe is Jane Tailby, who was a teacher until she took holy orders. She has been looking after five parishes in Wiltshire and was chosen in a unanimous vote by the churchwardens of the six different parishes. She is due to be inducted into the living at the end of September 2016 and will live in the Nassington Vicarage. The other parishes are Nassington, Thornhaugh & Wansford, Woodnewton and Yarwell
